Meet Our Founder
My journey began with a 25-year career as a licensed veterinary technician. Specializing in critical care and anesthesia, I had the privilege of working alongside some of the country’s most renowned surgeons in Los Angeles and undergoing advanced training at Penn State. While I was dedicated to climbing the corporate ladder in veterinary medicine, my path changed when I was diagnosed with three autoimmune diseases, making it clear that my time in the clinic had to come to an end.
This transition allowed me to pivot to my lifelong second passion: the arts. Having learned to crochet at age five, I traded my scrubs for yarn and began selling at craft fairs. However, I was quickly disheartened by the lack of appreciation for artists, who often face harsh weather conditions and constant pressure to undervalue their work.
In 2020, despite the challenges of the global pandemic, I founded A Pleasant Shoppe LLC. My mission was to build a community where local artists are truly supported, promoted, and appreciated. Every artist in our shop is hand-chosen by me, not only for their exceptional craftsmanship but for their kind-hearted nature.
